RebelMouse is a young New York City based company with roots deep in online media. Their CEO, Paul Barry, was the former CTO for The Huffington Post. With investors from companies like BuzzFeed and The Huffington Post, they were able to raise 10.25 Million in funding last year.

RebelMouse is leading the pack in “modern” marketing. Paul Berry has created a content management software that utilizes social media to help content creation and management for businesses. Their company is growing rapidly. With all the talent and skills within the RebelMouse team, there’s no stopping this company to reaching their goals and beyond!

Thanks to RebelMouse’s CEO, Paul Berry, Jacquelyn Mogol and Cindy Murphy for taking the time to answer some of our questions and making this post happen!

2) What is your role with RebelMouse?

I’m CEO and Founder, Paul Berry, but I am so proud that the company will have Cindy Murphy and Jacquelyn Mogol representing us.

IMAG2519Cindy was laser focused on being a part of RebelMouse. Armed with the experience from HuffPost and Federated before that, Cindy is passionately focused on helping brands build amazing customer experiences that amplify brand and consumer content in ways never possible before RebelMouse.
Linkedin or via Twitter.

Jackie watched from afar the amazing growth of HuffPost as a big fan of the early days on garnering paid/owned/earned and how that was accomplished through their technology. When RebelMouse launched, she knew she needed to join the amazing visionary team at RebelMouse and to work with the fabulous Cindy Murphy for a 3rd time!! Connect with Jackie on Linkedin or via Twitter.

3) How did RebelMouse get to where they are today?

RebelMouse is blessed to have a management team, board, investors and advisors with an all-star record in publishing. As founder and CEO I have been lucky enough to draw on all that I learned leading product, design and engineering at HuffingtonPost. Our Chairman, Eric Hippeau was CEO of HuffingtonPost and before that Chairman and CEO of Ziff Davis. Our first investor was Jonah Peretti, the founder and CEO of BuzzFeed. Our advisors include Gary Vaynerchuk and John Battelle. So – we have a team that really deeply knows what we are working on, the funding to get it done and the right partners to ignite the fire with.

rebelmouseAs the guy leading product, design and engineering for HuffingtonPost I was being asked dozens times a week to help brands, publishers and high profile individuals to get their websites and social presence right. I am so excited that this platform and this team is now at scale reaching over 30 million uniques and getting mind blowing engagement rates and participation with and for our partners.

4) RebelMouse has received a lot of great success and press! What makes RebelMouse so unique?

I can’t imagine knowing how to build RebelMouse without having had the experience of building HuffPost and the access to the team we have. We are taking what makes ourselves as individuals, the experiences and learnings we had that make us unique and translating that into a solution that helps a massive market deal with a very hard to solve but vital problem.

5) How will RebelMouse help the Professional Digital Marketer? How will it help the Individual Freelancer?

Marketers need to build real communities and enable real participation and to become great publishers. The marketers who are using us are having tremendous success within their companies and in their careers. We’re here to back them and work like crazy with the best team to prove that the risk they take in putting their faith, time and money into working with us will slingshot them and their companies ahead in the digital race. Individual freelancers using the product are showing off how savvy they are in picking the right product – we are dedicated to making them look like total hot shots.

7) How many employees do you have? Are you hiring? What positions?

We are now at about 60 employees and growing fast. We’re hiring into nearly every department – sales, account management, development. We are admittedly very very picky about the people we bring on but that makes it such a fun, dynamic and rewarding environment. We are very lucky to be building momentum through the talent we bring on.

8) What type of characteristics do you look for when hiring someone?

We look for people who are in love with the change that is happening in this world. Then we look for people who have already proven themselves in a company that helped bring real change to this world. That might be by creating the new generation of media company, or agency or brand marketing.
